Jamila needs 3-4 hours for dye release for hair use, and 12-24 hours for body art use.

How much you will need depends on your hair length, and thickness. This will give you a generally idea of how much you’ll need for 1 application:

Above ear length: 50-75 grams

Shoulder length: 100-125 grams

Bra strap length or mid-back: 150-175 grams

Lower back (above hips): 200 to 225 grams

Hip/Waist length: 250 to 300 grams

Stevie's regimen and recipe: "I have been coloring my hair “red” with all natural henna for almost 6 years now. I used to have dirty blond going brown hair and it was always a long tangled mess (my hair used to be a little more than half way down my back). Now my hair is so soft and shiny, plus I love the color. The shade and brightness of color depend on how long I leave it in as well the lighting of the day. .

-Use 2 boxes of henna powder. Typically Jamila. -Mix boiling water into powder until brownie batter consistency. -Mix in 3-5 drops of Lavender essential oil. -Leave to cool between 45 mins -1 hour. -With gloves I apply to head in handfuls starting at the roots and covering them as best as possible while moving to the ends. -Pile all hair on top of head and wipe off any excess from skin on forehead, ears, neck… -Wrap with plastic bag and let sit for 2 hours minimum."

Jamila henna powder comes in two varieties.

Summer Crop BAQ: This quality is used by professional henna artists, and is very popular amongst natural hair care lovers. This henna powder is the most finely sifted of the two varieties of Jamila henna powder available, and contains the best leaves of the henna plant that contain the most dye content. It also is so creamy it washes out easily from your hair. It currently comes infoil packaging that is marked in red writing "premium quality JAMILA henna 2011" and dye content is now marked. It comes inside a shiny Jamila henna box.

Henna for Hair. This henna comes packaged inside a clear cellophane package, inside of a sealed, plain Jamila box that is marked inside with "Henna for Hair". There will be no date marked on the box. The sift is a lesser quality, but still much better then store bought quality henna powders. The henna leaves chosen for this quality are from leaves that are lower on the henna plant. The dye content is not as high as the premium quality Jamila henna. It is popular for hair usage. This is a pure henna powder, but it is unfairly named body art quality, when in fact no henna artist would use it for body art. So it's not a true body art quality henna powder.

The smell of this product was a bit potent, however, the outcome was rewarding. No itchy scalp or residue.

Very happy with how this product performed. I have medium brown hair, love the red tones it added.
    Smells great, natural.
I also made it into a ceremony, for the women and people of Pakistan and for the feminine within us all. It was fun :) and

  3. A winner for me 5 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd Jul 2017

Oh my goodness , this product is fantastic ! I used to color my hair with box dyes and it became so dry , the build up was crazy and my scalp itched for a few days after rinsing. After using Fresh Jamila powder after the first try - I became a fan. So smooth, so creamy. It took a few tries to get the roots and all over color to become balanced with the Moroccan Indigo -but now I can probably mix it in my sleep. Thanks Henna Sooq !

  4. Gorgeous, healthy, copper hair 5 Star Review

Excellent quality henna! I use the Jamila Henna mixed half and half with Cassia on my hair. It comes out a lovely natural copper red and makes my hair so healthy and soft. It used to be too brittle to grow much further than my shoulders, but now it's past my waist.

  5. Always Very Impressed 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Jun 2017

I have been using Jamila Henna for years and am always very impressed by the results. It is such great quality. I stopped for a while and got caught up in chemical color processing but now that I have gotten my damaged hair cut off, I am back to henna again and I want to try Red Raj next.

  6. rich color 4 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Jun 2017

I love how rich and thick the color is. I must learn the proper time to keep in hair to maintain the proper color. I love that the henna is all natural. I love the fact that it won't damage my hair like the dyes you buy in the stores.

  7. Excellent Grey Coverage with Indigo 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Jun 2017

This is a great product for those of us undergoing chemotherapy (check with your health provider first!), who cannot risk interactions/bad reactions from chemical hair dyes. The Henna Sooq Brand is the safest and most gentle type of henna product I, personally, have used. Glad I found your company. And the pricing and order fulfillment is great also!

  8. Always Love Jamila henna 5 Star Review

Jamila henna is and has always been my favorite. I love the Red Raj too, but I always come back, to the Jamila henna.

  9. enjoyed using 5 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Apr 2017

I enjoyed using Jamila henna . It went on smooth and soft. The owner told me to add olive oil and alma to it so my hair would not be so dry. Like the other hennas I have tried ( not from this company) I truly enjoyed rinsing my hair . And the feel was like silk. It colored all my greys. After three weeks my hair still looks good. I can't wait to do it again. I here there are so many benefits of using henna. Thank you henna sooq .

  10. jamila henna is magical stuff 5 Star Review

Posted by on 17th Apr 2017

This was my second purchase of the Jamila, and won't be the last. It dissolves and gelatinizes easily, I love the color, and by comparison with other henna I have used, the coverage is great even over my grey, leaving me with brighter red highlights. I do add a bit of cider vinegar. (As seems to be the universal case, the color does seem to wash out most quickly in the grey and white areas; I use micro touch ups with a toothbrush between coloring.)
