We love Jamila henna powder because:
Jamila Henna Powder Summer Crop 2011
Stevie's regimen and recipe: "I have been coloring my hair “red” with all natural henna for almost 6 years now. I used to have dirty blond going brown hair and it was always a long tangled mess (my hair used to be a little more than half way down my back). Now my hair is so soft and shiny, plus I love the color. The shade and brightness of color depend on how long I leave it in as well the lighting of the day. .
-Use 2 boxes of henna powder. Typically Jamila. -Mix boiling water into powder until brownie batter consistency. -Mix in 3-5 drops of Lavender essential oil. -Leave to cool between 45 mins -1 hour. -With gloves I apply to head in handfuls starting at the roots and covering them as best as possible while moving to the ends. -Pile all hair on top of head and wipe off any excess from skin on forehead, ears, neck… -Wrap with plastic bag and let sit for 2 hours minimum."
Jamila henna powder comes in two varieties.
Summer Crop BAQ: This quality is used by professional henna artists, and is very popular amongst natural hair care lovers. This henna powder is the most finely sifted of the two varieties of Jamila henna powder available, and contains the best leaves of the henna plant that contain the most dye content. It also is so creamy it washes out easily from your hair. It currently comes infoil packaging that is marked in red writing "premium quality JAMILA henna 2011" and dye content is now marked. It comes inside a shiny Jamila henna box.
Henna for Hair. This henna comes packaged inside a clear cellophane package, inside of a sealed, plain Jamila box that is marked inside with "Henna for Hair". There will be no date marked on the box. The sift is a lesser quality, but still much better then store bought quality henna powders. The henna leaves chosen for this quality are from leaves that are lower on the henna plant. The dye content is not as high as the premium quality Jamila henna. It is popular for hair usage. This is a pure henna powder, but it is unfairly named body art quality, when in fact no henna artist would use it for body art. So it's not a true body art quality henna powder.

I combined the Jamila with coffee and the result was a deep brown which I wanted because I knew that I would follow up with the Indigo so I wanted it as dark as the Henna could go. Loved how shiny my hair was after the entire process. Will be a repeat customer for sure!

I used 60:40 indigo (mixed in warm water and left if for 15 minutes) and Jamila henna(mixed henna in warm water and left it for about 5 hours. After applying, i let it sit for about 2 hours before washing. Application was a little hard as it made my hair very dry and hard to make partition (it was quite messy) but the color came out very good. I have a dark golden brown hair and it made my hair look medium dark reddish (it does not sound great) but i think the color looks great on me. The only think i suggest is conditioning your hair after washing henindigo beacause it left my hair quite dry. I applied camallia oil after washing and it was magic, made my hair reaally soft and nice.

I've been using chemical dyes for YEARS and wanted to get away from that since I'm not ready to give in to the grays. I bought this after a lot of research and mixed with amla. The results were wonderful! I don't have very thick hair so I was able to use 100g in 2 applicatons- I just saved the rest in the freezer and thawed for my second use. I'm really thrilled to find an all natural alternative to getting rid of the grays!
It did deposits red(I have red under tones in my dark brown hair and the grays were a bit coppery, but nothing alarming.
After I rinsed out with a cheap conditioner, I DC with a moisture DC and my hair felt wonderful.

I first came across Jamila Henna in doing body art. At that point I noticed it stained skin the exact vibrant coppery color of my natural hair. When the 'platinum highlights' started coming in, it was my first choice for color. It makes my naturally copper hair a touch more vibrant. The grays turn a nice deep strawberry blonde providing cover and highlights. It also helps a lot with split ends. I can go a bit longer between trims on my waist length hair.
I mix it to about the consistency of toothpaste. For body I add lemon juice and water, for hair I just use purified water, no tap water. the lemon juice makes it turn out a little more brassy on hair. I knead it in a ziploc freezer bag to get the mix right. add powder first and the the water 1 Tbsp at a time to get the right consistency.
The color may not work for everyone, but if you want that vibrant copper look, this is the one! Some may say orange, but that hardly comes close to explaining the light reflective values of the henna produced by Jamila. Though the color may vary, very slightly, from crop to crop, depending on the weather that year, it is always very, very close and always has the reflective quality in the color.

Being a long-time lover of Yemeni henna, I purchased Jamila when the Yemeni was unavailable. There are definite pros and cons.
Pros: Smooooooothe... It mixed up smoother and it smooshed in and spread easily when applied. It was a breeze to rinse out as well.
Con: I left it in for almost 7 hours (after allowing proper time release). The color is not as intense as Yemeni. Yemeni gives a deep, rich, dark red that I have come to adore. Jamila just stained my hair a coppery orangey color. I was able to observe this because I had not hennaed in several months and had much new growth.
So in the end, I will stick with Yemeni because in my opinion, it is is worth a little extra hassle for the long-lasting deep reds that I am now completely addicted to. But if you are looking for a more subtle coppery red, than I would recommend this for you.

I so wanted to love this. I did everything the directions said-1 cup of water, 1 cup of lemon juice- and waited 24 hours for the dye to release but my hair didnt rally change colors. All that changed were the streaks and they turned this beautiful red color that i wanted for my whole head.
I kept this stuff in my hair for 5 hours. I will admit that the henna was a little watery but i still used all of it in my hair. Im gonna have to find something else because i love the color of my streaks but need to dye all my hair.
I even added some hibiscus powder. Maybe i didnt add enough though. I have black 3c hair. Im gonna try something else to try to work. 2 stars because pf the pretty color of my steaks and because it was easy to wash out.

I have to admit I'm a hair blog stalker, I try not to jump on bandwagons, but Henna is something I did decide to try...and I'm so happy I did, my hair is sooooo different now! Thicker, healthier, 95% of my shedding stopped after my 4th henna treatment. The color is dreamy to me, I love the red overtone and rich dark undertone it gives me, in the sun, I look like a red head :) It is not so hard to rinse out, the benefits far outweigh the time a henna application consumes. Thanks Henna Sooq :)

This is a lovely henna. I applied for the 2nd time on my hair a week ago.
I have been a henna head for a few years. My henna of choice has been yemen for the glorious color, but, since it has not been available, I have branched off into this one.
This is reasonably, priced henna that rinses out easily from my 3C curly hair. (Yemen was a bear rinsing out).
The color matures in about a week to a lovely, bright, warm auburn/brown tone. My mix consists of henna and cloves mixed with a hibiscus tea/lemon/water which I allow to stew for 12 hours. I then sleep in the henna overnight.
This gives me great results. It even seems to brighten my base color somehow. Love it.

Love this product! I always wondered what all the fuss was about. Well, coming from bad products to THIS, WOW!! Jamila was creamy an dreamy. I added it to Katam for a BRowner tone although the red did show up, it is a nice red. I added Amla to keep my waves. Overall, loved the mix.

A friend gave me a box to try & I must say this henna is awesome! VERY easy to rinse out of hair (and I have varying degrees of curliness). I will definitely be purchasing this henna from here on out.
