Savannah's hair regimen and recipe:

"I’ve been using henna to dye my hair for a little over a year now and I love it! I used to bleach my hair blonde for years and have had every color of hair under the sun…needless to say my hair was fried, and badly damaged. I tried every product in the store to try to restore my hair and nothing worked, until I did some research online and stumbled upon henna. I was a bit skeptical at first, after all, I tried every salon product out there and nothing worked well, so how will a little plant help? Boy was I surprised! I bought henna, indigo and amla powders online, mixed them together and after many hours and quite a mess, my hair looked gorgeous! I’ve been using henna for over a year now to dye my hair a perfect shade of auburn brown.

My recipe is as follows…

200g of henna powder 100g of Indigo powder 50 g of Amla powder

I mix up the henna with lemon juice the night before I want to dye my hair, let it sit overnight, then I mix the indigo and amla powders with warm water and add them to my henna mix. Let it sit on my hair for 3-4 hours, rinse and voila!

I love the way my hair looks and how fast it grows now. I’m always getting compliments from people about how nice and shiny my hair is. I will never go back to commercial hair dyes again."

  1. Burgundy, Fine Sifted, Super Conditioning Awesomeness 5 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Jul 2015

Deep, lush colour and it covered my grays beautifully. I prefer this to Jamila because I want to avoid the orangey tones that Jamila yields on my hair.
After an overnight henna, I rinse with cool water and apply some Indigo for hair, for a half an hour to get my perfect tone of deep red/burgundy.
The sift is super-fine and this was relatively easy to rinse out.
I used to buy a Rajisthani henna from my local market and online; it was a lot cheaper, but the freshness was unreliable and it had a fair amount of twigs and sand. I thought I was saving money, but now I think it was a false economy. Now, I'm convinced, Kadijah's Henna is the best value!

  2. Great Stuff! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Jul 2015

I was initially buying my henna from Mehandi, but I felt they were charging too much for the henna and the shipping. They actually had the nerve to recently raise prices on both! So I'd been hearing great things about this site through some of the big names in natural hair and decided to take a look. Boy! Am I glad I did! The product is amazing and the price for product and shipping is spot on! Thank you Hennasooq!

  6. Henna Rajasthani 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Jul 2015

I've ordered henna before and this is by far the best. I mixed mines with black tea and grapeseed oil. It wasn't messy and went on smoothly. I was very impress. And thank you for the prompt delivery service.

  7. beautiful color 5 Star Review

Easy to wash out and super fine texture dry. Love it!

  8. amazing smoothness and deep color 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd May 2015

I mixed my recipe with all sorts of goodies to bring out red tones, including paprika, hibiscus tea, cinnamon, and such, and the paste was the most even and smooth and easiest to work with. Didn't make a mess, if you can believe it! Left it on overnight, and now that the colour had a few days to settle, I have beautiful chocolate hew to my natural dark brown hair. Real difference is on the grays; I have gotten a deep copper tones, beautiful in the sunshine. I would also like to commend the staff, the order shipped promptly, lines of communication were clear, and when I had technical questions, my emails were answered within few hours each, even in the evening. Thank you!

  9. Dye Resistant White Hair! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 19th May 2015

I have salt and pepper hair, more salt than pepper now I think, but I'm not about to grow out the henna color to find out!! I find that I cannot buy any of the weaker strength hennas because my white hairs turn clown orange. Jamila was my go-to, but sadly I had to let it go for something stronger, but something that was not too over the top in price for my budget. I have to say the organic rajasthani henna really did a great job! The price is awesome, the color of my whites are a wonderful red color which is exactly what I wanted! Love this! Will be ordering more!

  10. Surprised and happy 5 Star Review

Posted by on 13th Apr 2015

This was my first time using this henna. I've been using Red Raj for over two years, however; I wanted to try something other than my favorite (Red Raj) just in case it's sold out. I was very surprised and happy with the outcome. Now I'm not sure if it was just the henna or because (for the first time) I used tea tree essential oil. Either way it came out a beautiful color, nice and rich. It was also easier to rinse out than my Red Raj. I have to say I'll be purchasing this in bulk with the Red Raj.
