Savannah's hair regimen and recipe:
"I’ve been using henna to dye my hair for a little over a year now and I love it! I used to bleach my hair blonde for years and have had every color of hair under the sun…needless to say my hair was fried, and badly damaged. I tried every product in the store to try to restore my hair and nothing worked, until I did some research online and stumbled upon henna. I was a bit skeptical at first, after all, I tried every salon product out there and nothing worked well, so how will a little plant help? Boy was I surprised! I bought henna, indigo and amla powders online, mixed them together and after many hours and quite a mess, my hair looked gorgeous! I’ve been using henna for over a year now to dye my hair a perfect shade of auburn brown.
My recipe is as follows…
200g of henna powder 100g of Indigo powder 50 g of Amla powder
I mix up the henna with lemon juice the night before I want to dye my hair, let it sit overnight, then I mix the indigo and amla powders with warm water and add them to my henna mix. Let it sit on my hair for 3-4 hours, rinse and voila!
I love the way my hair looks and how fast it grows now. I’m always getting compliments from people about how nice and shiny my hair is. I will never go back to commercial hair dyes again."

I mixed my recipe with all sorts of goodies to bring out red tones, including paprika, hibiscus tea, cinnamon, and such, and the paste was the most even and smooth and easiest to work with. Didn't make a mess, if you can believe it! Left it on overnight, and now that the colour had a few days to settle, I have beautiful chocolate hew to my natural dark brown hair. Real difference is on the grays; I have gotten a deep copper tones, beautiful in the sunshine. I would also like to commend the staff, the order shipped promptly, lines of communication were clear, and when I had technical questions, my emails were answered within few hours each, even in the evening. Thank you!

I have salt and pepper hair, more salt than pepper now I think, but I'm not about to grow out the henna color to find out!! I find that I cannot buy any of the weaker strength hennas because my white hairs turn clown orange. Jamila was my go-to, but sadly I had to let it go for something stronger, but something that was not too over the top in price for my budget. I have to say the organic rajasthani henna really did a great job! The price is awesome, the color of my whites are a wonderful red color which is exactly what I wanted! Love this! Will be ordering more!

This was my first time using this henna. I've been using Red Raj for over two years, however; I wanted to try something other than my favorite (Red Raj) just in case it's sold out. I was very surprised and happy with the outcome. Now I'm not sure if it was just the henna or because (for the first time) I used tea tree essential oil. Either way it came out a beautiful color, nice and rich. It was also easier to rinse out than my Red Raj. I have to say I'll be purchasing this in bulk with the Red Raj.

I have been henna-ing off and on for 6 years now, with locs and loose natural 3c/4a African American textured hair. My initial and first choice will always be henna from the Rasjasthani region as it usually yields the one of the highest concentrations of lawsone.
When mixed with my organic aloe vera juice, dye releases in about 6 hours which leaves more than enough time for me to apply and get the full conditioning my hair loves.
I stumbled upon Henna Sooq and love the presentation, products and AWESOME customer service they provide.
Henna Sooq now provides discount pricing on bulk orders and will continue to be my source of Ayurveda powders!

Even though Henna has been in my culture (I am from India) for a long time, I am actually using it on my hair for the very first time. This henna powder is very fine, no lumps or stems or BAQ as they call it!! The moment I opened the bag the smell of henna powder took me back to my childhood when we used to apply henna designs on our hands for special occasions!!
The recipe I used for my hair is as follows : 200 gms of henna, juice of 2 large lemons, tea brewed with tea powder and a few cloves (tea powder - lipton brand orange pekoe, that's what we drink at home everyday). The strained tea brew and lemon juice measured upto 2 cups. Mix henna & the warm (a little on hot side but not boiling) tea with lemon juice. Let the mix sit overnight or about 8-12 hours.
Application was difficult for me. Its my first time and so I struggled with it. I have mid-back length hair and not very thick. I watched a few youtube videos on how to apply it and somehow managed to get it all over my hair. As I was applying it, I thought I would never do this again!! I did lay out lots of newspaper on the bathroom and used the nitrile gloves. I hope that with time & repeated use I will get comfortable with the application process. I did still have leftover mix of henna, next time I will try 125 gms of henna.
I left it on for 6 hours (I fell asleep on it!! I put a towel and an old t-shirt on my pillow) and used a saran wrap and shower cap to cover my head.
I washed my hair in the shower, and it came off easily since it was a fine powder to begin with. Just need to stand under the shower for longer than usual, till the water runs clear. I did not use a conditioner or shampoo.
The results - I towel dried my hair and went out to my son's game, in the sun my hair was shining burgundy (I have black hair so the color only shows under the sun). It covered all my greys.
After I reached home, within 2 hours of washing off my henna, I applied henna sooq's organic indigo as per instructions and let it sit on my hair for 1 hr and after wash, I did have black hair again. Even in the sun it was black!! Amazing!! My greys however were dark brown and not black. It still blended well with my black hair and my friends could not tell the difference. I really had to part my hair and show it to them closely to even notice.
I am super amazed by the results and am a true believer. I will definitely try this again.

I bought this henna a while ago, and didn't used it right away. I'm SO glad that it keeps well in the freezer..I used it a year a half later after completed my transition to natural hair from relaxed. I used it on my new natural mane. I technically did a henna gloss treatment using Herbal Essences Hello Hydration conditioner and warm green tea. No loss of moisture, moderate color release and softness! That was Jan 19, 2015. (I made a YouTube video about it too on youtube.com/kolanashatori)
A couple days ago, I did a full strength henna treatment with this same henna. I used warm green tea and 1 Tbsp of honey. GREAT color release and softness and fullness! Using only the tea a honey made my mix very slippery, more so than the gloss treatment. Application was a breeze and rinsing was too. I have fine, natural strands, about 3b to 4a, with medium to low porosity. These treatments have strengthened my hair as well as helped my scalp be less dry and itchy.
Thanks Henna Sooq!

I'm combo 4 a/b hair type, with naturally off- black hair. This is my first henna purchase from hennasooq. After reading all the reviews, I finally made my 1st purchase. I am now hooked. It made my curls loose but I'm okay with that because it's so soft and shiny. My hair is easier to manage, cutting down styling time and I don't dread the process anymore. This henna was easily mixed, beautiful dye release and easily applied and removed. I will order in bulk from now on. Thank you hennasooq for a superior product.

I've never used henna before. In fact, I've never colored by hair ever before so I went into this nervous my full head of natural hair was going to come out in clumps. Silly me because this stuff is amazing. My hair was soft and manageable with rich burgundy tones. It did loosen my curl pattern but that was fine by me. And the customer service was excellent. Am trying Red Raj next!
