Our next henna workshop will be: October 10th at 1:30 pm (length: 2-3 hours). Please register as soon as possible as space is limited.
Location: Brampton (Toronto), Ontario.
Outline of "Introduction to Henna" workshop:
-We will discuss the origins of henna and its historical uses in culture and religion. We will talk about current emerging trends and traditions of henna in the West.
-Safety Issues: The dangers of using "black henna". Learn the differences between natural henna and chemically altered henna paste.
-Henna Applicators: A live demonstration and interactive lesson on how to roll your own henna cone, and how to fill it with henna paste. We will also discuss other types of henna applicators used by henna artists around the world.
-Recipes and Mixing: A live demonstration of how to mix henna, our secret recipe, and explanation of henna chemistry.
-Elements of Design: A breakdown of different elements in traditional henna design, focusing on design symbolism, and styles of different regions.
- Henna Demonstration: A volunteer received a sample design to give students a chance to observe the technique of henna application.
- Hands on practice: Students are given the opportunity to practice creating their own designs on paper, on themselves, or on each other.
Supplies Included: Henna cone and 100 grams of body art quality henna powder for each student, books for browsing, practice sheets, henna design sheets, and henna recipe and instructions.
Fee: $85.00 per student (group rates available, min.5 people)
Deposit required: $25.00 non-refundable. Complete payment due day of workshop.
