Henna Body Art

Outline of our Introduction to Henna Workshop:

• We will discuss the origins of henna and its historical uses in cultures. We will talk about current emerging trends and traditions of henna in the West. 
• Safety Issues: The dangers of using "black henna". Learn the differences between natural henna and chemically altered henna paste.
• Henna Applicators: A live demonstration and interactive lesson on how to roll your own henna cone, and how to fill it with henna paste. We will also show you other types of henna applicators used by henna artists around the world. 
• Recipes and Mixing: A live demonstration of how to mix henna, our secret recipe, and explanation of henna chemistry. 
• Elements of Design: A breakdown of different elements in traditional henna design, focusing on design symbolism, and styles of different regions. 
• Henna Demonstration: Everyone gets 1 free henna body art design by Khadija
• Hands on practice: Students are given the opportunity to practice creating their own designs on paper, practice sheets, on themselves, or on each other.

Supplies Given to each Student: Fresh henna cone, 100 grams of body art quality henna powder, 10 ml essential oil, books for browsing, practice sheets, henna design sheets, henna recipe and instructions.

Fee: $125.00 per student (group rates available, min.5 people)

Henna and Ayurvedic Natural Hair Care

Outline of our Introduction to Henna and Ayurvedic Hair Care Workshop:

• We will discuss the origins of henna, and herbal plants. We will talk about current emerging recipes, benefits and trends of natural ayurvedic herbs on hair.
• Safety Issues: We will review the dangers of using chemicals on your hair, especially for pregnant women, and those with allergies. 
• Natural herbs :  We will look at all of the natural herbs that can be used on hair. We will see how each herb is beneficial and how it can be used effectively. Powdered herbs that will be viewed and demonstrated are henna, indigo, cassia obovata, and amla powders.
• Recipes and Mixing: A live demonstration of how to mix henna and ayurvedic herbs showing the mixology techniques, and dye release of each herb as applicable. We'll go over recommended recipes, and make personal recommendations for your own hair, and natural hair regimen. 
• Henna Application: We'll show you exactly what you'll need to apply these henna, and ayurvedic herbal hair treatments.

Supplies Given to each Student: 200 grams of your choice: body art quality henna, indigo, cassia obovata, amla, brahmi, bhringraj or shikakai powders, recipes and instructions for each student.
