Savannah's hair regimen and recipe:

"I’ve been using henna to dye my hair for a little over a year now and I love it! I used to bleach my hair blonde for years and have had every color of hair under the sun…needless to say my hair was fried, and badly damaged. I tried every product in the store to try to restore my hair and nothing worked, until I did some research online and stumbled upon henna. I was a bit skeptical at first, after all, I tried every salon product out there and nothing worked well, so how will a little plant help? Boy was I surprised! I bought henna, indigo and amla powders online, mixed them together and after many hours and quite a mess, my hair looked gorgeous! I’ve been using henna for over a year now to dye my hair a perfect shade of auburn brown.

My recipe is as follows…

200g of henna powder 100g of Indigo powder 50 g of Amla powder

I mix up the henna with lemon juice the night before I want to dye my hair, let it sit overnight, then I mix the indigo and amla powders with warm water and add them to my henna mix. Let it sit on my hair for 3-4 hours, rinse and voila!

I love the way my hair looks and how fast it grows now. I’m always getting compliments from people about how nice and shiny my hair is. I will never go back to commercial hair dyes again."

I used this henna for the first time on my very black hair to color my grey. It worked well and I can’t wait to do it again!

I wish I could include pictures of before and after using this product along side the Red Raj and Indigo dye! The difference is phenomenal. I used a combination of this henna along with some of the Red Raj and then added a couple tablespoons of Indigo to lessen the copper tones. (I did test dyes on my hair from my hairbrush + clippings about four different times prior to committing to a full coverage. BE SURE TO DO THIS IF YOU'RE NOT SURE HOW IT WILL LOOK ON YOUR HAIR!) Because I'm so pale and my hair so light I wanted to make sure I didn't overshoot and go super dark.

For my liquid I used a green tea with lemon blend and a smidge of beet juice. I added about 3 tbs of Amala powder to my 150 grams of henna powder. After it set up for 3 hours (indigo was added at the end and left to sit around 30 minutes per instructions) I applied it on my blonde hair. I wrapped it in a plastic bag and let set for 4 hours and 45 minutes. When I rinsed it out with water and conditioner I was left with a lovely ginger color that has a a slight brown hue that isn't too dark. I'm honestly shocked at how much I love this. I took a spoolie and put some of the henna on my eyebrows to tint them as well. They set for 1.5 hrs and that gave me enough of a red hue to match my new hair color. I'm super excited to go ginger and will probably maintain this for years to come. I can't wait to see how henna helps my fine hair, of which I have a lot. Thank you so much!

I had been dying my hair a burgundy red color for years with boxed chemical dye. Switching to henna has been amazing. The color the organic rajasthani indian henna gives my hair is perfect. Its a nice deep burgundy red (my natural hair color is a very dark brown). My hair feels so soft and healthy after dying it as well. I won't be going back to chemical dye anytime soon.
